Lamp/Lathe Glassblower (Experienced only)

Interview and Tryout

The Job:

  • Competently assemble Pyrex laboratory assemblies off hand and on lathe in a production environment that consists of production guides and quality levels
  • Typical jobs include:
  • Small multi-neck flasks
  • Small scale distillation heads
  • Jacketed chromatography columns
  • Addition/Pressure equalization funnels
  • Some filter work
  • Bending up to 1.5” tubing
  • Vigreux columns
  • Micro/mini lab
  • Moisture test receivers
  • Basic single neck flasks, stirring rods and pressure bottles
  • Ace takes pride in manufacturing in the USA for over 80 years. We do not outsource our work to other countries.

The Candidate:

  • Minimum 4+ years’ experience glassblowing in a production environment
  • A level-headed communicator and worker who strives to be productive
  • Ability to read and comprehend prints and processes, read a ruler/tape
  • Ability to focus and stay focused
  • Ability to think independently and tune out nonsense
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time, stand for extended period of time as required by the job
  • Ability to use hands and arms to reach/lift/push/pull/twist, manipulate foot pedals and move material throughout the plant as needed for each job
  • Ability to tolerate heat from the fires as well as the ambient temperatures during summer
  • Excellent attendance
