Deputy General Sales Manager

Overview

We are seeking a highly organized, communicative, and forward-thinking individual who has a working knowledge of chemistry and the industries that utilize scientific glassware to join our Sales Department as a Deputy General Sales Manager. This full-time, salaried role—based in our Vineland, NJ headquarters—combines active territory management, team leadership, and company-wide business development responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will manage the Southwest sales territory, while also supporting sales operations, guiding the customer service and outside sales teams, developing distributor relationships, and driving strategic initiatives to support and expand the business.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage sales activity for the Southwest U.S. region (AZ, NM, TX, OK, AR, LA) from the Vineland office, including customer interaction, quoting, and relationship development.
- Travel occasionally for trade shows, vendor meetings, and to address sales opportunities or territory-specific issues.
- Lead and support the customer service and outside sales teams, ensuring alignment with sales goals, strong communication, and high-quality service delivery.
- Foster and grow sales-driven relationships with distributors, serving as a key liaison and resource in the field.
- Partner with the General Sales Manager on quotes, team coordination, account strategy, and operational planning.
- Contribute to business development efforts by identifying new market opportunities, supporting the launch of new initiatives, and helping expand company reach and sales potential.
- May be assigned additional territories as needed due to business growth, staffing changes, or strategic expansion.

Candidate Requirements

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related scientific discipline.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in sales or customer-facing roles, with a working knowledge of chemistry and the types of industries that use scientific glassware (e.g., pharmaceutical, chemical, polymer, academic, and related sectors).
- Demonstrated leadership capability with a strong sense of initiative and accountability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized, strategic, and effective at balancing multiple projects and priorities.
- Proficient with ACT CRM and Microsoft Office tools.
- Willingness to travel is required, though it is not expected to exceed 10–15% of the time.
