Autocad/Solidworks Design Production Support Technician

The Job:

  • The Autocad/Design Production Support Technician will work under the direction of our Design Engineer.
  • Individual will be part of a team that plays a pivotal role in moving work orders from the order placement stage to the production floor stage.
  • Responsibilities include among others being proficient in Autocad and 3D Solidworks to create drawings of our new/existing products, for use by our Marketing Department, per customer request or for in-house fixturing/mechanics.
  • Other production supporting tasks include but are not limited to assisting in the design of products, running calculations utilizing CAD programs, file maintenance of custom product numbers, determining Bill of Materials for drawings and handling tickets within our ticketing system.
  • This position requires one to work with support staff such as Customer Service, Purchasing, Departmental Foreman, Engineering Technicians, President, Plant Manager, Production Scheduling Manager, etc.
  • The right individual will be given the opportunity and knowledge to develop into a technical asset for the company.
  • Individual will be required to “switch gears” yet stay focused and intent on the departmental objectives.

The Candidate:

  • Certification on 3D Solidworks or Autocad desired, but not required.
  • Proficiency in 3D Solidworks AND Autocad required.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical drawing and reading blueprints.
  • Three to five (3-5) years’ on the job experience using above software to create drawings and drawing revision control.
  • Ability to adhere to CAD file management, standards and criteria.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Knowledge of general dimensioning and tolerances.
  • Computer skills including knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office Word/Excel/Outlook.
  • Excellent organizational ability.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • An aptitude to assist in the design of products.
  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Technical School.
  • Ability to communicate with others in a level-headed/productive manner.
  • Process/system oriented.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Able to take dimensions from parts using micrometers and other measuring devices.
